EMCCA
The East Midlands Combined County Authority began a major phase of internal communication and staff training during 2025. We worked with Miris to create a clear visual framework that could explain the purpose of the authority and support a wide range of staff and stakeholder material. Our work introduced a central illustrated graphic and a set of tools that helped the organisation communicate with confidence during a period of growth.
Relationship
Creative partner supporting Miris on the development of EMCCA communications
Creative focus
Training material, induction tools, internal communication and core brand expression
Delivery
Concept development, structured information design and full collateral support
Toolset
InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, PowerPoint, digital content creation and presentations

Challenge
The work carried significant expectations. The authority sits under public sector scrutiny which meant we had to show value and careful attention to detail at every stage. The content was broad and complex and needed to be accessible to different groups of staff. We were not based in the region so had to learn the context quickly and collaborate closely with Miris who supplied photography and video. Stakeholders included senior figures such as the mayor which added a further layer of accountability. The design also had to complement materials created by other partners without losing its own structure or clarity.

Solution
We created a clear and flexible framework that supported the full programme of work. This included applicant guides, forms, a complete board game and training pack for a major staff event, induction programmes, brochures, presentations, infographics, wall graphics, point of sale items and digital assets. The central illustrated graphic became the anchor for all communication which allowed us to keep consistency across the year. We shaped narratives, refined information and delivered artwork that helped the authority explain its aims with confidence. The work was received very well and led to further commissions as new budget was secured. The result was a strong and reliable set of tools that supported staff understanding and helped the new organisation establish its voice.
